Finance and accounting education in Shanghai Maritime University started in the 1960s, with a long history and profound characteristics. The accounting major was established in 1960, and the five-year undergraduate program of Waterway Financial Accounting was established in 1962, which was one of the only two undergraduate accounting programs in Shanghai (the other is Shanghai University of Finance and Economics).
