報告摘要：The study presented in this paper investigates whether and how “big data analytics” (BDA) implementation influences supply chain operational performance. Drawing on organizational information processing theory and the decision making literature, we identify and highlight an important mechanism, IT-enabled decision-making capability of the supply chain function, through which the organizational practices of BDA affect supply chain operational performance.  In addition, the study addresses controllable organizational factors (internal integration and supply chain executive decision making authority) posited to improve the effectiveness of BDA initiatives.  An analysis of questionnaire data from supply chain managers representing 157 North America-based companies provides broad support for the research hypotheses and overall nomological network relating comprehensiveness of BDA usage to organizational decision making capability and operational performance (cost, asset productivity, and growth).  We discuss the implications of these findings for future research and for managers who seek to maximize returns from BDA implementations.
報告人簡介:Daniel Q. Chen is a Full Professor in the Department of Information Systems and Supply Chain Management in the M.J. Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University, U.S.A.  He received his Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Georgia. In addition, Professor Chen holds an M.B.A degree from Washington University in St. Louis, USA and a B.E. degree from Shanghai Maritime University, China. Professor Chen has combined years of industrial experiences in entrepreneurship, supply chain management, and management consulting in U.S.A. and China before entering the academic field.
Professor Chen’s research addresses the overall question of how information systems (i.e., technological and human resources) can improve organizational decision making at both the strategic and operational levels. In particular, his interests lie across the areas of Strategic Management, Supply Chain Management, and  IT Management, including the topics of strategic impacts of organizational resources, supply chain integration an innovation, the role and value of IS leadership especially at the CIO level. His research has appeared in numerous premier management journals such as Decision Sciences Journal, Decision Support Systems, Journal of Management Information Systems, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of Strategic Information Systems, MIS Quarterly, MIS Quarterly Executive, among others. Dr. Chen currently serves on the editorial boards of Decision Sciences Journal and Journal of Operations Management.
