報告摘要：Cities are at the forefrontof the battle against climate change. However, intercity comparisons andresponsibility allocations among cities are hindered because cost- andtime-effective methods to calculate the carbon footprints of global cities haveyet to be developed. We establish a hybrid method integrating top-downinput–output analysis and bottom-up crowdsourced data to estimate the carbonfootprints of global cities. The increased carbon emissions that come from highconsumption lifestyles offset the carbon reduction by efficiency gains thatcould result from compact city design and large city scale.  

報告人簡介⛩：Dr. Zhifu Mi is Professor of Climate Change Economics and Director ofResearch of The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, University CollegeLondon (UCL). He has published papers in leading journals, such as Lancet,Science Advances, Nature Energy, Nature Food, and Nature Sustainability. He wasawarded the World Sustainability Award and named in Clarivate Highly CitedResearchers. His research was awarded Best Paper Award in Energy Economics,Best Early Career Article in Environmental Research Letters, and Highly CitedOriginal Paper in Applied Energy. He is serving as an Editor-in-Chief ofStructural Change and Economic Dynamics.
