Remanufacturingauthorizationisanindustrypracticewherebyoriginalequipmentmanufacturers(OEMs)authorizeindependentremanufacturers(IRs)toconductremanufacturingoperationsbyprovidingnecessarytechnicalsupport.Inreturn,IRswhoacceptauthorizationneedtosharetheirremanufacturingprofitwithOEMsbypayinganauthorizationfee.RemanufacturingauthorizationhasreceivedgrowingattentioneitherfromOEMsorfromIRsbecauseofthehighprofitabilityoftheremanufacturingbusinessandtherisingcompetitionintheremanufacturingmarket.However,themainconcernisthatcustomers’ demandfornewproductswillbeseverelycannibalizedbytheexistenceofremanufacturedproducts.WhileexistingstudieshaveexaminedOEMs’ andIRs’ strategiesforauthorizationcooperation,thequestionofhowtodesignaproperauthorizationcooperationcontractsothatawin-winoutcomecanbereachedremainsunanswered.ThisseminaraimstostudytheremanufacturingauthorizationcooperationbetweenanOEMandaremanufacturer,wherethelattercanbeanIRoracontractmanufacturer(CM),byemployinggame-theoreticalmodels.Fourstudiesareinvestigated,anddifferentmarketstatusesareconsidered,includingtheIR’sremanufacturingtechnologychoice,thecompetitionintheremanufacturingmarket,thepartiesthatareinvolvedinremanufacturingauthorizationwhichhavedifferentbargainingpowers,andthecasethattheCMbecomesaremanufacturingpartner.

Dr.QinZhouiscurrentlyaLecturer(AssistantProfessor-equivalent)inOperationsManagementwithDepartmentofDecisionAnalyticsandRisk,SouthamptonBusinessSchool,UniversityofSouthampton,UK.ShereceivedthePh.D.degreeinEngineeringwithSchoolofCivilandEnvironmentalEngineering,NanyangTechnologicalUniversity,Singapore,in2023.Priortothat,shereceivedtheB.S.degreeinmanagementfromSouthwestJiaotongUniversity,China,in2015.Hermainresearchinterestsareclosed-loopsupplychainmanagement,gametheory,andremanufacturingauthorization.Shehaspublicationsinhigh-qualityjournals,suchasIEEETransactionsonEngineeringManagement,InternationalJournalofProductionEconomics,TransportationResearchPartE:LogisticsandTransportationReview,ExpertSystemswithApplications,andothers.
